Social housing: Macky Sall lays the foundations for the private sector

The rapid evolution of urbanization accentuates housing problems. In 2013, the housing deficit was 300,000 units, while the supply did not exceed 5,000 housing units per year. But according to President Macky Sall, the State of Senegal has taken the option of entrusting the satisfaction of this demand to property developers. According to the Director of Housing, the investment needs are 120 billion CFA francs per year.

In twelve years, more than one out of two Senegalese will live in the city. Today, with an urbanization rate of 45.2%, the occupation of cities poses a problem. Their spatial spread is worrying insofar as it leads to a rapid increase in the need for decent housing.
